Audrey Church
Professor of School Librarianship and Chair of the Department of Education and Counseling

Audrey Church is professor of School Librarianship and chair of the Department of Education and Counseling in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services.  She regularly teaches SLIB courses in Foundations of School Librarianship and Research Methodology for School Librarians.

Audrey earned her Ph.D. in Education with a focus in Instructional Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007.  She is the author of numerous journal articles, several book chapters, and three books—Leverage Your Library Program to Help Raise Test Scores: A Guide for Library Media Specialists, Principals, Teachers, and Parents (Linworth, 2003), Your Library Goes Virtual (Linworth, 2007), and Tapping into the Skills of 21^st-Century School Librarians: A Concise Handbook for Administrators (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016).  Additionally, she co-edited the 8th edition of School Library Management (Libraries Unlimited, 2022). 

Audrey is past president of the Virginia Educational Media Association, the Virginia Educational Research Association, and the American Association of School Librarians.  She was honored to receive the 2015 Maria Bristow Starke Faculty Excellence Award from Longwood University and the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award from her undergraduate alma mater, Bridgewater (VA) College.  In September 2017 she was named the 2017-2018 Simpson Distinguished Professor for Longwood University.
